memorias de guapé

Guapé (here) - Minas Gerais, Brasil

The town was flooded  in 1963 to build a dam, today the old house is in the middle of the river, and what's left from our lands are little small islands, the ferry is a transportation of extreme importance connecting the farms to the main land. It once had tourists and commerce, today though it's just a small town lost in the middle of nowhere.

All of the images in this post are really beautiful but the second last is my definite favorite. Great combination of old colors and blurriness. Such a beautiful place. Thanks for awarding me btw, i'll try to write something even though i'm no good when it comes to writing things down :)

Wow, I absolutely love the colours of the first pictures, they're incredible (and the photo of the tree!) :) Is it film?
Kisses!

e a gente ainda acredita estar caminhando pra evolução. o ser humano não tem paz. é uma pena pela cidade...
fotos que me passam muito carinho, intimidade e aquele ar gostoso da cidade do interior onde o tempo passa devagar. :)

I love these last words.
In my mind, except Amazonia, I always imagine Brazil in red, red early sun, red earth, red dust etc.
& yet, yet red like your heart Who is blooming silently.

I admire really how you can tell so well your story with few photos.
Green is Red

Congrats
Ma Belle

the last blurry picture is a paint painted by my mom, she is a great painter...so I had to bring it fro Brasil, to have a piece of there here.

That kitten picture is pure amazing perfection!
And I really really love the picture before that, with the pink blossoms. There's something poetic about it, the way the flowers are behind those black branches.

oh meu deus, é triste saber que o sítio da tua infância foi destruído mas pelo menos ainda tens memórias às quais podes agarrar e ninguém te pode tirar isso :)

parece que só o Brasil tem essa luz especial impossivel de achar em outro lugar.

These are beautiful shots. I so love the kittens - they remind me of my (feral) cat when he was just kitten...
Your family's hometown looks beautiful...peaceful, and everything just flows together. Beautiful.
